• Three works by Dans Digital Won Three Awards in LIA and CICLOPE within Three Days

  • Since receiving the notification e-mail from London International Awards that two works of Dans Digital made the shortlist on Oct. 18th, 2016, we have waited 20 days for the final result. In the wee hours of Nov. 7th, the award-winning works were finally announced on the official website of LIA after 5 months’ strict selection. Two works by Dans Digital won one Bronze Award and one Finalist Award in the category of Visual Effects of Production & Post-Production. And this is the first time a Chinese company won awards in the most competitive category ever since 31 years ago LIA was established.

    London International Award is the top creative event that Chinese native advertising companies have long been yearning for. It was previously the arena for international 4A companies and Europe & America production companies. As a Chinese native creative company, it is not easy for Dans Digital to reach the final competition and win two awards. 

    Since Oct. 18, 2016, the competition entered into the stage of final selection. Visual Effects of Production & Post Production is the highest level competition category within the total 16 categories. The juries decided the awarding of the prizes of the respective competition on an absolute standard, if no work meets the standard, there will be no awards giving out. Take the year 2008 and year 2014 for example, there were no gold awards giving out within this category, the juries only awarded silver and bronze awards. In 2016, 12 works from the world entered into the final stage, two of them are from Dans Digital. 

    As the result revealed on the morning of Nov. 7th, 2016, the works from Evian, LG, and SSE won Gold Awards; the works from Instagram, Sécurité routière, Sky, and Mercedes-Benz won Silver Awards; T4·Logo won bronze awards; Landing and BRITA’s work won Finalist Award in the Visual Effects of Production & Post-Production.

    Ranking as top 5 advertising awards in the world, LIA enjoys an excellent reputation within the world’s advertising and creative field, it is the battlefield as well as a communication platform for first-tier advertising companies and creative firms. This year’s LIA is a good harvest year, among the winner list, we saw the name of many  famous  post-production companies, for example, The Mill, which won over 200 international awards; Framestore, which is the post-production company of the blockbusters Gravity, The Martian, and Doctor Strange, etc.; JAMM, which won the Grand Prix of Cannes Lions previously, etc. And the award-winning works include the commercials made for famous brands such as BMW, Audi, Samsung, Nike, John Lewis, etc. These works were all selected from over 10,000 entries by 151 creative masters, film & TV directors, and production experts.

    The two winning works of Dans Digital are all planned and directed by Mr. Bohong Deng, who is the founder of Dans Digital, 3DS MAX MASTER, and judge of 56th & 57th CLIO Awards, and the works were all produced for more than one year.

    Among which, T4·Logo was made in 2 years. Still, in London, the work won the Gold Award in EVCOM Screen Award on Apr. 28, 2016, which award ceremony was held in Lindley Hall of Royal Horticultural Halls, it was the first time Chinese people won awards in this competition. And the same work won The Best VFX at CICLOPE International Festival of Craft, Dans Digital was awarded Best Digital Company in ASIA PACIFIC of CICLOPE International Festival of Craft 2014.

    Just 2 days before the result of LIA was announced, the award ceremony of CICLOPE International Festival of Craft was held grandly in the legendary Kino International Theater of Berlin, which is the main venue of the eastern European Film Festivals. Each award was revealed successively. And this time, another work of Dans Digital named Be One with the Universe won Bronze Award in the Editing at CICLOPE International Festival of Craft 2016. The Gold Award and Silver Award were given to Converse and New Balance in this category. Be One with the Universe is the only Chinese work among the winner list of the competition.

    CICLOPE International Festival of Craft toured around the world during its award ceremony, and recently it was held in Berlin. Annually held since 2010, CICLOPE Festival gathers in Berlin world top-notch professionals to share their ideas and know-how, to discuss the main issues of the business, to celebrate the best work and to network with colleagues and clients.

    The competition attracted top advertisers around the world. The 6 competition categories attracted numerous entries from over 24 countries. Among the list of the entries, we can see the familiar brand names, such as NIKE, APPLE, Audi, Coca-Cola, P&G, Samsung, New Balance, LG, Adidas, SSE, etc.

    The work Be One with the Universe winning the award this time, reflecting again the selection criteria of CICLOPE. Unlike other advertising festivals, CICLOPE Festival focuses on the art of execution, rather than the ideas. It took 14 months for Dans Digital to complete this 2-minute advertising film. Just like the note the director Bohong Deng put into the entry brief: “In this 2-minute film the director only used a fixed shot, within the shots are constant changes of wind and clouds, sunrise and sunset, heavy rains and lightning, day and night. What the audience sees in the film is scenery, yet the director is implicating the true meaning of human life. Human life, just like the views outside the window, is full of ups and downs, surging forward with great momentum. And human life, like this 2-minute fixed shots, will eventually become simple and tranquil.” From the synopsis of the commercial, we can feel the special advertising philosophy of Dans Digital, we can also know that a good advertisement not only contains a good creative idea, the execution is also important. Also, good work always make you think deeper.

    This is the 75th award since Dans Digital began to take part in international competitions. We can still remember the excitement when we won our first gold award in RealFlow. As for us, we’re happy for each prize, since it is a recognition, however, it is more of an encouraging. It's not just the trophies that satisfy us, instead, We are satisfied that we can make one touching film after another. 
     
    For Dans Digital, there’s still a long way to go!
